Traffic Sources and Optimization
The type of traffic source you use determines how much of the optimization workflow can be automated.
Custom sources
Custom sources work with any ad network. You configure parameter mappings manually and optimization rules apply to them normally — Rinku detects underperforming zones and sends alerts. However, blocking is always manual: you copy the zone ID from the alert and add it to the network's blacklist yourself.
Integrated sources
Integrated sources are linked to a supported network account via API key. Rinku currently supports:
- Adsterra
- ExoClick
- Galaksion
- HilltopAds
- PropellerAds
- RichAds
- TrafficStars
With an integrated source, Rinku can block zones automatically through the network's API when an optimization rule triggers — no manual copy-paste required. The alert shows a Block button that calls the API and confirms the result.
Additionally, if a campaign has auto-optimization enabled, Rinku can block zones without any manual step at all: the rule triggers, the zone is blocked, and you receive a notification that it was handled automatically.
Setting up an integrated source
- Go to Integrations and connect an account for the target network
- Go to Sources → New Source and select the network from the list
- The form pre-fills the correct parameter mappings for that network
- Select the connected account from the Connect external account dropdown
- Save the source
Once the source is linked to an account, the Block button in alerts will use the API instead of showing manual instructions.
Connecting an account to an existing source
If you created a source without a connected account and want to add one later:
- Go to Sources and open the source
- Click Edit
- In the Connect external account dropdown, select the account or click Connect new account
- Save
What changes without an integration
If a source has no connected account, the block modal shows manual instructions: copy the zone ID and paste it into the network's blacklist. After doing so, click I blocked manually to mark the zone as blocked in Rinku.
